Collaborate, Develop, Educate & Network

bluebonnetThe Society for Social Work Leadership in Health Care - Texas Chapter is an organization which promotes leadership excellence in order to preserve social work values and practice in all health settings. The Society provides members with an effective network for leadership development, education, advocacy and support for professional growth. The Chapter was founded in 1973 and is currently affiliated with the national society of the same name. The national Society maintains a relationship with the American Hospital Association. Many members have formed local units in their part of Texas and meet at regular intervals to exchange information and network.

The Chapter's main focus is to maintain a vital social work presence in health care. We believe it is crucial to the well-being of our patients for us to be there. Our presence in health care rests on our ability to be represented by excellent social workers with strong professional skills and access to quality professional education. For this purpose the Chapter places much of its energy into developing a strong, statewide network and presenting an annual state educational conference.

Members include individuals who have substantial responsibility for administration of the social work function in a health related institution as well as line staff who are interested in becoming leaders in their field. Social work consultants, educators, and students also have found a home in this organization. In our Website you will find names of the Administrative Board Members, a Membership Application, and information about our educational events. Please feel free to contact us for further information or with specific questions.
